Professor Mark Lewis
CEO
Professor Mark Lewis has dedicated over 25 years to the development and applications of human muscle organs. He has authored and co-authored over 50 publications in the skeletal muscle field. In 2023, Mark co-founded Myomakers. As CEO he leads the team in providing solutions to muscle toxicity problems.
Dr Millie Coward
Scientist
Millie is a neuromuscular bioengineer focused on the development of bioengineered human skeletal muscle models. Her PhD research explores injury and tissue regeneration resulting from toxins and blast exposure, utilising innervated and vascularised muscle constructs. She brings expertise in cell culture, microscopy, tissue engineering and data science.
Dr Andrew Capel
CSO
Dr Andrew Capel is a technology expert who has led the R&D operations of the Lewis’ group for 8 years. Andrew is deeply experienced in the IP underpinning Myomakers. Andrew has received awards totalling £7.3M worth of funding within the area of bioengineering for health, injury and regeneration.
Dr Kerry Chaplin
Business Development Officer
Dr Kerry Chaplin has worked with lab-grown musculoskeletal models for 6 years. Her knowledge spans the entirety of the manufacturing process, from experimental planning through to tissue manufacture. Kerry has acquired business acumen through the ICURe fellowship.
Rowan Rimington
Advisor
Dr Rowan Rimington is a life sciences executive with deep expertise in disease modelling, integrating functional genomics, advanced cellular systems, and AI/ML-driven biology. He brings over a decade of experience translating complex molecular and cellular biology into scalable discovery platforms, both in vitro and in silico. He has founded and scaled biotech start-ups, and led functional genomics R&D, significant capital raises, IP strategy, and regulatory programmes in venture-backed companies
